The Summit County Water Rescue Team is an all volunteer group of Summit County citizens that are dedicated to assisting the public who use the aquatic attractions within Summit County.  The team specializes in the discipline of aquatic search and rescue operations.  The team provides assistance to the Fire, Police & Rescue groups in the surrounding counties and state wide. The Summit County Water Rescue Team has provided its support services in; Gunnison, Rio Blanco, Park, Grand, Eagle, and Lake Counties.

 

  • The Summit County Water Rescue Team is not a sport diving group.
  • The Summit County Water Rescue Team is a group of volunteers that are motivated to serve the community by donating large amounts of time to train and to assist the public for the successful resolution of aquatic emergencies.
  • The Summit County Water Rescue Team is a high altitude water rescue group, operating at altitudes  between 7,000 and 11,500 feet.
  • The Summit County Water Rescue Team typically meets to conduct  training two times a week.
  • The Summit County Water Rescue Team's activities include; but, are not limited to:

 

    • Vehicle and boat recovery and salvage
    • Underwater crime scene investigation
    • Accident Victim Rescue & Recovery
    • River Rescue/Swift/Flood
    • Ice Rescue
    • Ice Diving Operations
    • Night Diving and Zero Visibility Operations
    • High Altitude Diving Operations
    • Sonar and Underwater Video Operations

 

  • The Summit County Water Rescue Team is not a commercial diving company and if asked, will direct the public to, commercial diving service companies for underwater construction & salvage projects that do not come under the Emergency Services categories.
